How to use it

  • Type once, see every style

Each style changes as you type. Copy the one you want, paste it in X.

  • Letters and digits only

Spaces, punctuation and emoji stay as they are. Some styles have no digits, so those stay plain.

  • Each styled letter counts 2

They are Unicode symbols, not formatting, and X counts them 2 against 280 (most upside-down ones count 1). Each row shows its count on X.

  • A word or two, not a whole post

Screen readers read these letters badly (one by one, or as maths symbols), and search may not match them. Use them to mark a word, not to write a post.

Questions

How do I write in bold or italic on X?

Type your text here, press Copy on the Bold or Italic row and paste it into your post, your name or your bio. Posts on X are plain text: these are Unicode letters that look bold or italic.

Why does a styled post count more characters?

X counts each of these letters as 2 against 280, as it does for emoji and Chinese characters. A 10-letter word in bold takes 20. The count on each row is X's own.

Do these fonts show on iPhone and Android?

The styles here are the ones current iPhone and Android fonts include, in the X app and in browsers. A very old phone may show some as boxes.

Are fancy fonts bad for accessibility?

They can be. Screen readers spell them out letter by letter, or read them as maths symbols, and X search may not find a styled word. Keep them to a word or two.

Is my text sent or saved anywhere?

No. Every style is made in your browser. Nothing is sent to us or kept.
